This is a collection of pictures and stories from he North. There is a story to go with each pictures displayed under "photos and stories". To get a taste for the kinds of stories that are contained within these pages please go to "the First Story, Peggy's First Pictures" to get an idea how this project got started. Each story tells a little bit about the individual and a little bit about the community itself. By exploring these pages we hope that you can learn something about the North and its people.
Peggy Sanders (Maiden Name: Baragar) Biographies

Part One: Growing Up: Peggy's early life in Winnitoba, including her childhood and her education.

Part Two: The Wartimes: Peggy's life in Victoria during WWII, when she was working with the military for communications. Also includes her trips around the island, which happened mainly on her days off.

Part Three: Sioux Lookout and Family: Peggy's life in Sioux Lookout (and a brief period of time spent in Winnipeg), includes her marrage, the birth of her children and brief descriptions of some of her volunteer work.


Babies with Bonnets
Babies with bonnets is a story told by Peggy Sanders that describes her first visit with a mother from the community of the North. It also explains how the tradition of giving baby bonnets to each of the mothers (or each of the babies depending on your point of view).
This is a tribute to Peggy for all of the hard work that she has done to make the Northern mothers feel welcome.
