Evelyn
Stoney, mother of Gina | Evelyn Stoney was
born in Big Trout, her mother was flying towards Sioux Lookout but went into labour
while they were stopped in Big Trout for the night. Her mother took Evelyn back
to her home in Fort Severn on the next plane ride back. Later, when Evelyn
was pregnant she flew up to Sioux Lookout, but she made it all the way before
giving birth. She had to stay in Sioux Lookout for a full month before she got
to fly back home with her daughter Gina. In her day to day life she is the
owner of her own little coffee shop near the band office. She started the coffee
shop in 1999 and it has been moderately successful. When I talked to her she had
just finished serving some men who were working on the new water reservoir.
She has some family here and she married another man from Fort Severn. She really
felt that it was exciting to see the pictures because they gave a sense of history
and time to everything in the community.
